About
Who We Are
Real Times Media (RTM) is a modern media company with a powerful legacy. Though officially founded in 2006, our roots go back over 115 years to historic Black-owned newspapers that have long served as essential voices in their communities. Headquartered in Detroit, RTM emerged from the acquisition of Sengstacke Enterprises, preserving a critical part of America’s Black press history.
Today, RTM is home to five of the nation’s most respected African American news brands: the Michigan Chronicle, Chicago Defender, New Pittsburgh Courier, Atlanta Daily World, and Atlanta Tribune. These publications don’t just report news—they document our culture, elevate Black stories, and empower our communities with information that matters.
RTM has evolved into a multifaceted platform that includes news publishing, cultural marketing, event production, and digital content creation. From “Who’s Who In Black” to Studio 1452 and Pitch Black, we continue to push forward, celebrating excellence and ensuring Black voices are not just heard, but amplified.
